Hi there!

We went to Puppy Kindergarten (in Lakewood) with our 4 month old/young Shih-Tzu and it was awesome!!!  Marie was our teacher and she is just wonderful with the dogs, very understanding, patient and much more. Our puppy (Dr Snuggles) learned so much even socializing with the other puppies!!

We give you a straight A!!!! Thanks for all the love, lessons and attention, we will be back soon, since Dr Snuggles loved his classes (we did too!!!)!!!

Theresa-

Maggie & I wanted to thank you and let you know how much we enjoyed your rally obedience class. I'm sorry we left so soon after class but I was freezing! I knew I should have dressed warmer! Anyway, the class was a great experience for Maggie as she really needed to work in a socialized environment. We hope to continue with training and maybe even get into some competition.

Thank you again for your expertise and patience.

Hi Paul and Patti,

Just wanted to write to tell you that my husband, myself and our aussie
Bentley just finished up our agility classes through the city of Anaheim
at the Yorba Linda Community Center with April and we had an amazing
experience.

Holly and Bentley practice the jumps

While our class had the most handlers/dogs (15 or so), April
went out of her way to make sure everyone received individual as well as
whole group instruction. She was very informative and helpful when
handlers/dogs were experiencing problems with obstacles and at the last
class I am happy to say that everyone completed all obstacles without any
hesitation or problems.
I can honestly say that April made our Saturday mornings very enjoyable
and our dog is hooked on agility do to the positive experience.
I wanted to thank April for her assistance and hope to see her soon in the
upcoming classes.

Hi Paul & Patty,

Just wanted to say thank you for what you did with Biscotti. I am completely amazed. He's so adorable & now he's trained better than I ever believed would possible.  It would have been devastating to have to get rid of Biscotti. Glad I don't have to worry about that anymore. He is a much more happy & settled dog. I think because he clearly understands what is expected & acceptable behavior & has confidence. Now I see that when he wants my attention he sits down in front of me to show me he's doing the right thing & not jumping on me.

I remember vividly the day my husband called me at work to let me know that we had received a complaint from the city about excessive barking. One of the neighbors complained. I was literally sick to my stomach. My options seemed bleak. I wouldn’t have him de-barked and that meant that I would probably have to give my puppy away. I cried as I drove home in bumper to bumper traffic. It was only a couple of months before that my horse died and it looked like I was about to lose another beloved friend. My husband happened to call but I had cried too long to conceal my tears. He was really great. He reassured me & told me not to worry that we would resolve the problem.

I began exploring alternatives to solve the problem. Though I have had dogs all my life nothing that prepared me for my adorable, smart Papillion. My husband works at home and I work long hours and by the time I get home in the evening not really interested in training a puppy not to mention the fact that I’m not good at it either.

When I filled out the forms the day we dropped him off it asks what problems we were having. This was my list: Barking, running out the door, not coming when called, jumping on us as well as our guests, mouthing/biting (puppy play non-aggressive). I had already taken him to a puppy obedience class but he didn’t do any of his commands with any consistency. The most distressing  issues were the barking & running away. I was afraid he would get hit by a car or my husband would get hurt chasing him down the street.

I didn’t realize that there were dog trainers that actually train in their home like a normal living situation instead of strictly kennel training. I felt that this would more closely duplicate our living situation & problems.

When we picked Biscotti up Paul put him through his paces and I watched as my husband also put him through his paces. He did his sit, stay, down, recall, heel. He absolutely did everything. Biscotti did it so well that my husband said “He’s better than Babe & Nugget (our field trained golden retrievers). How embarrassing.”

When we got him home all I can say is that he was a new dog. It was a total transformation. Not only did he do all the commands right on cue with no hesitation but he seemed to have a calmer happier demeanor knowing that he knew exactly what to do in all situations and the bark fests have thankfully ended. My husband took Babe to the vet & when he opened the back gate on our SUV Biscotti jumped out to piddle & immediately came back & jumped right back into the car. No cues necessary. I am absolutely thrilled and grateful with the results. It was really more than I ever could have hoped for. I have always wanted to do agility. Quite a lofty goal for a dog that didn’t even come when called! I am so grateful to Patty and Paul. It would have been more than I could bear to lose both my horse and dog. Thankfully that isn’t something that I will have to face and our agility classes start in June! Our dogs are a big part of our lives and we will have a better quality of life of as result of the training. I am ever so amazed and so grateful.

Dear Paul & Patty,

Thank you so much for taking such good care of Bear!  Knowing he was staying with you in your home allowed us to have a worry free vacation -- What a treat! Bear obviously loved the time he spent with you, your dogs, and all the other dogs that grace your home.  We can't say enough how much we appreciate your work.  We hope he didn't wear you out too much, we know how much of a handful he can be!    Until next time,

Hi Patty,

I just finished the 4 week crash class with Rose in Norwalk. I wanted
to let you know what a great class this was. Rose is amazing! She was
able to keep us and the dogs in order, she did a wonderful job. My
dog Tommy went through a transformation that I didn't think was
possible in four weeks. If I want to continue with my training could
you recommend the right class for me in the surrounding area.

Thank You,

Jon and "Tommy"

Hi Paul,

I just wanted you  to know how happy I was with the progress Bella made during our training class.  The last week I used the can technique and she really became more attentive. No more of the Husky lunge. I was totally surprised how well she heeled during the walking exercise and  I could feel the difference.  She felt so in tune with me.  We hadn't even practiced the "recall" and "around" but she was able to do it.  I'm going to have her spayed the week of March 24, so I'm going to wait to enroll her for the grad novice during the summer session.  She should be well recuperated by then.  Thanks for sharing all your experience.  It has made a difference in our four legged friends. Even Spencer showed some progress.

Sincerely,

Rachel Dominguez

I wanted to tell you that Murphy, my cocker spaniel, and I passed the AKC Canine Good Citizens Program at Irvine Community Park last week. I am so impressed with your services I wanted to let you know how much Murphy and I appreciate Khara, Theresa and Paul's help in getting us to this important stage in our training.

We took the novice training with Khara last year and then we took the Review training last month with Theresa B. Both trainers were excellent. Then Paul was very patient with our nerviness for completing our AKC Citizens Program.

Again, thanks and I would highly recommend anyone in need of dog training take your courses.  Murphy agrees.

Hi Patty,

I just wanted to thank you for all your help on the phone and to let you know how much I have enjoyed classes with Marie Charpentier. I am a returning student. I first went thru her class with Gunner eight years ago. I even purchased the book "Who's Walking Who?" and wore the book out so much. That when it came time to bring my new puppy Abby to Puppy Kindergarten Class I not only purchased the Puppy Pamphlet, I bought another "Who's Walking Who?". The book has not only been helpful all these years to me, I loan it out to all of my friends! I encourage everyone who takes these classes to do themselves a favor and pick one up for their home library. I refer to it often!

I'm looking forward to Abby's next class with Marie in April at San Martin Park in Lakewood. We have been practicing, but need to have Marie's eye and the added experience of working in a group.

Enclosed are pictures of Gunner now 9 years old and Abby (on the right) who is 7 months old.

Thank you again Patty! And please feel free to post this on your web site!

Sincerely,    Roxann

It has been a great experience for our family that Milo ( our 5-month-old puppy) take this class. He has been a joy to all of us. I also like to thank Rose for taking the time gave Milo a one on one lesson after the first meeting while Milo was too excited to settle down to be in the class, Rose spent at least 20 minutes and gave him some lesson, and definitely worth the time. And for us, the 2nd. class was a joy, he listens well and behaved nicely....... I am very grateful what Rose did. She is a great trainer and very experience in her profession.

Thanks,
Ting

I knew that he was eager to learn, but decided that I needed instruction past puppy kindergarten when we were walking to the vet one day and he decided to put his nose through another dog’s fence and got his lip bitten. Thanks,
Rose, for your patient insights and experience with all sorts of pups! You really convey a heart-felt love for animals and an understanding of your human students.

My husband and I attended the 'Crash Course' at Acacia Park yesterday and I wanted to tell you how impressed we are with Rose Healey as the instructor.  There are a total of 9 dogs in the class, some of which demand a lot of attention

Rose did a great job - In one instance she was able to help a young girl with her husky by evaluating the dog and finding that the dog would respond to quiet tones - He went from a jumping, jerking, lying flat on the ground dog to a dog that sat and heeled on command.

Rose is in tune with the various breeds of dogs and their differences and we really respect her as an instructor and handler.

My Golden Retriever, Zoe, is now 18 months.  She has taken almost every class you offer beginning with Puppy Kindergarten.
Best educational class we've taken is the Drill class with
Theresa B.  She is a professional trainer - dog and people.  I recommend all of her class to others when they truly want to learn to train their dog.
Most Darn Fun class we've taken is the Agility Class with
April - Great way to enjoy your dog and others. A wonderful way to keep you and your dog in shape and happy. April's laugh and the dogs' antics make this the best hour in town.
Because of all your classes, Zoe passed the AKC Good Citzen test in March and she has become a Pet Assisted Therapy Dog with the Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) group of the Orange County SPCA.  We visit Older Adults and Children in various facilities in the County.  Zoe is good with those we visit and the other dogs in the group.  This is a great way for us to be together and help others.
Thanks for keeping good trainers available for everyone who cares about their dog!  See you at the next class...

Khara,

We just wanted to say THANK YOU for the awesome training sessions at our home.  We both learned a lot, and we understand each other so much better!   See you soon!

Max and I just finished the novice class with Therea B.  My family and friends laughed when I told them we were signing up.  They just knew we would flunk out in the beginning.  Well, we finished and we are so much better for it!  Theresa taught us so much about each other. Her training was firm but kind.  She is extremely knowledgeable about dog psychie and handlers too!  Not a lesson went by without learning more than just the command.  We are signed up for the next level and so excited!

I can't wait to share your website with others!
Take care
Michele

Dear Dog Services Unlimited,

I have participated in the last two sessions of the dog obedience class offered in Monrovia. I wanted to let you know how very much I have enjoyed the class and how much my dog, Rocky and I have learned thanks to our outstanding instructor, Mairene. She provided excellent instruction to the entire class while concurrently addressing individual needs by providing targeted, individualized assistance and support. She effectively differentiated the curriculum to allow for individual differences and to ensure that all the dogs and owners participating in the class were able to grow and develop their skill sets to their highest potential. She was professional, prepared and well-organized each week. I appreciated her energy, enthusiasm, and continued encouragement during our class sessions. Thank you for staffing your classes with such wonderful teachers!

With thanks,
Susan

We just completed a refresher course with our recently rescued Golden, Rusty, at Tewinkle Park with Theresa B., and wish to commend her on her training ability and overall dog knowledge and understanding.
It was a very fast and informative five weeks that the three of us looked forward to attending.
She really deserves a big "Atta Girl"!

Hi:

My name is Julia and this is my dog, Lukas.  We had a great time  and took first place in our class of Novice Dog Obedience at El Toro High School. Our instructor was Carol Tilton and this was the second class I’ve had with Carol.  Last year, I took an obedience class with my other dog, Roadie.  I have been an elementary school teacher for over 13 years and have raised two kids and I must say that Carol is an outstanding instructor.  She loves what she does and is an excellent communicator with a great sense of humor.  It’s amazing to watch the class progress from a group of barking, out of control pets and in just a few short weeks this same group transforms into a high performance and well disciplined team.  Carol’s energy and passion are boundless.  In one week, she know the name of every dog.  I would strongly recommend this course and Carol to any dog owner who wishes to enhance their relationship with their canine pet.

Lukas and I are very proud of our trophy, but I am sure that everyone in the class feels like a winner.  Carol has a great gift for teaching and a lot of knowledge to pass on.  Thank you so much, for a great experience that Lukas I will never forget.

Sincerely,

            Julia and Lukas

Hi my name is Raymond.  I just want to say that my

dog Candy and I had a great time in Khara Knight's obedience class.  Khara was a good teacher, and she was really patient.  Even though my dog didn't learn everything, she learned a lot.

Thank You Khara.  Candy and I are glad you were our
teacher!!!!

Patty,

Great speaking with you, thank you for all your help. We will definitely recommend your classes to anyone. Grissom (my 8mth old Newfoundland) and I learnt so much from taking the Novice Obedience training at Laguna Niguel with Wendy. She was very professional and clear on what needed to be worked on each week. Grissom has come a long way and we will continue to work with him. Our goal is to get him certified (AKC Canine Good Citizen) and we are very happy that we can keep working with Dog Services Unlimited on this.

Thank you,

Hi,

I just want you to know how much I appreicate the dog instructor Ginger who leads the dog obedience class on Tuesday nights at the Oasis Center.  She has control of all the dogs, is clear in each step of instruction and keeps everyone organized.  My Irish Setter, Finnegan, is doing really well in class and I look forward to the other classes.  Two other classes I had signed up for were cancelled but it has worked out well because of Ginger!

I had 4 training sessions with Good Dog University and was disappointed in their loose training techniques.  IMy dog has responded better in one session with Ginger than in 4 sessions with Good Dog U.

Please pass this along to the City of Newport Beach and please let them know that I think Ginger is a fine instructor.  I also would be happy to be a referral for anyone considering using Ginger as an instructor.

Subject: Theresa's Class (Theresa Botello)

Hi, My name is Kim and I had Tank, a pit/lab mix in the most recent class.  I just wanted to say how impressed I was with Theresa’s teaching style.  She was Very Professional, Clear and Positive, as well as Humorous, and I thoroughly enjoyed every class!

I was very concerned about going to the class the first night with 20 something dogs all in one area because my dog can be dog reactive.  Theresa had explained that everyone was to keep their dogs 10 feet apart at all times but people don't always hear everything and I have to tell you I was VERY Anxious about all those dogs being in the same vicinity as my Tank.  >^..^<   Theresa’s thorough explanation of the training collar was extremely important and beneficial and kept my dog and me out of trouble!!!

My goal (after reading the hand out from front to back) was to have Tank do the graduation off leash.  I expressed that to Theresa and she made it happen.  I have been working with Tank for Three Years and this was the most amazing feeling to have been able to see him do so well at graduation.  I am getting teary eyed just remembering!!!  >^..^<

Thank you, Theresa for your patience, your knowledge and your humor!!!

Kim and Tank “Man”

Hi there,

I have taken many classes with Ginger and Theresa for my two boxers. (One who is slightly infamous in class now ;)
I shudder to think of what my dogs would be like without all the training we have completed. Theresa and Ginger are both angels. They have given me and my dogs so much extra help and consideration. They have both gone over and beyond their jobs to be helpful. They both have really cared a lot. I am dedicated to continually taking classes with them. My dogs wouldn't be as lucky as they are now to have the opportunities to go to all the places I take them to, if they hadn't been trained. Thank you simply doesn't express my gratitude.
                                                                              A lifetime class fan!,

Hello,

We started our energetic 6 month old Border Collie mix in Carol Tilton's Dog Obedience class. When Hurley
started class she was all over the place. I could barely handle her she had so much energy. After the 8 weeks,
she was a totally different dog. Carol was amazing.  She was so patient and so helpful when it came to
training our pup. She was always willing to stay after to answer questions and really made a great impact on
our puppy. Not only did she help train our puppy, but she did a great job training us on how to be good
owners.  We hope to continue all of our classes with Carol.

Thanks Carol!!
Shelley, Erik and Hurley :-)

I just want to thank you for the wonderful "crash course" we had with

Kristi. She got all of us doing things I'd thought were impossible -- my
energetic lab puppy held her sit/stay for a full 3 minutes! Kristi managed
all the different dog (and owner!) personalities with grace and humor. She
helped me find the proper collar and translated some of Midnight's behaviors
for me. My dog and I now understand each other much better! Thanks again.

Subject: Carol Tilton

We started our Tibetan Terriers in Carol Tilton's classes. It was a great experience for them and us. Carol's techniques work! Her classes are taught with clear direction, great skill and a loving sense of humor. Her ability to quickly get to know all the dogs and their owners in her class is a special quality. Both dogs and humans learn a lot. Now, our third Tibetan just completed Carol's Kindergarten class and will follow through in all of her classes.  We truly look forward to working with Carol again.
With best regards,

I just finished my second class with my second dog "Jewel" at the La Mirada center with Rose Healey.
Thank You Rose for your expert knowledge and your clear teaching. I can-do what you are teaching, myself at home without the class, but the value of your class is the social training along with the drill work that I and my Great Danes get. I will be back for more. I am now interested in Agility with my two year old female "Jannett" and "CGC", "Rally" and "Therapy" with my nine month old female "Jewel".

Again, Thank You Rose for your patience and knowledge. I will continue to keep myself and my girls up to what you have taught us. Check out our website if you get a chance.

Dear Dog Services:

I have taken my two German Shepherds, Shana and Franklin, to
obedience classes taught by Theresa Botello. Both dogs have been through
her beginner and drill classes. Theresa is a wonderful instructor.
She has incredible patience and is able to work with dogs and
handlers of all levels. My dogs and I have learned so much and I
constantly receive compliments on how well trained my dogs are. I
continue to take the drill classes with Theresa because it is a great
refresher class and I always learn something new. I highly recommend
Theresa to anyone that wants a well-trained dog.

Dear Patty,

Last night was our final crash course with our new puppy Lola and we
could not have had a better experience. We had the extreme fortune of
having Mrs. Khara Knight as our instructor. Mrs. Knight brings her
wealth of information and obvious love for dogs to the class. These
qualities are wonderful but useless without the ability to communicate.
Mrs. Knight possess the rare quality of effective communicator. She
takes the time to both tell and show us what she would like us to do
and is always ready with a reminder, kudos or praise for both the dogs
and people! We feel so very fortunate to have had Mrs. Knight as our
instructor and am disheartened that she teaches only the crash course.
If it is in your control, may I suggest expanding her repertoire - she
is surely capable and a wonderful representative of Dog Services
Unlimited. Congratulations on hiring such a wonderful and
knowledgeable employee.

We've got 2 "Pound Puppies" that came to us with some previous issues. Theresa Botello has been great teaching us how to deal with the "kids", she is a great teacher and has really helped us. Just completed the Novice 8 week course and wanted to say how impressed we were with Theresa B. as an instructor. She routinely stayed late for us, and kept us from giving up hope for our problem Samoyed-mix Kylee. She actually placed in ‘graduation’ to the surprise of us all.  She has lots of work still to do, but in just 8 wks she has calmed down considerably.

 Superb job Theresa!

Dear Patty,
I just wanted to tell you how much Buddy, My 8 month old Lhasa mix, and I got out of the class we just completed with Theresa B at the Santa Ana College Course.  Her training was direct and concise  and it was so easy to follow her direction I was amazed at how quickly we improved after just one class.  She was so encouraging and her corrections were done in a personal manner which fit each dog and handler that was immediately beneficial.  She has an engaging  sense of humor which made the class fun for us all.  I can't wait for the next class,  hopefully we will be better at differentiating between play time and work time.  I will not hesitate referring everyone I know to your company
Thank you so much

Hi,

Just a note regarding Pepe', the instructor for the Alhambra, CA
obedience class recently completed with my dog Lacey.

Thanks to Pepe', I no longer think of my dog as and nice, friendly,
sweet and "dumb as dirt". She, it turns out is bright, obedient and
compliant. All of this is as the result of the training given to her
by Pepe'. He is patient and persistent and did what 2 other
instructors could not do. Because of his ability and training, I am
now able to take Lacey anywhere and know, with confidence, that Lacey
will act as a wonderful companion.

As soon as I put a leash on Lacey, she becomes a docile and seems to
know it's time to calm herself and reads my every thought - sound
silly, but true. Recently, I took her to Lacy Park (name is just a
coincidence) in San Marino and she became surrounded by 12-15
children who I thought might overwhelm her. She remained calm and obedient.

Pepe' is a "keeper".

I have signed her up for your 5 week obedience refresher class in
Monrovia beginning September 26 and hope to continue with her in your
agility class in Long Beach.

Again, thanks to Pepe' for making all of this possible.

I am writing this letter to inform you of the useful and enlightening experience I had in your novice dog obedience class.

Many times obedience classes are watered down, common sense, and not always applicable or useful in everyday situations. I found your course to be all encompassing, covering many areas I wished to improve, and filled with additional useful information I never even considered regarding my dog.

Kudos to your articulate and professional teacher, Wendy, who not only took the time to make sure every dog and handler knew the material; also demonstrated it with her own two dogs she brought to class. It was a powerful motivator to see an instructor who not only "talked the talk" but "walked the walk" with her own two perfectly mannered dogs.

Being in the educational system, I have found that the teacher makes the difference in any class; in other words, great material means nothing if it is not presented correctly. Wendy is the epitome of a conscientious and concerned instructor, right away, she began the class with useful information; all the while demonstrating each maneuver until each person in the class completely understood what was being taught.

It is that "something extra" that Wendy puts in all she does, wanting all her students to excel, and that is what makes her rise above others in her field. I can truly say every dog and handler in our class made tremendous improvements in obedience training, including my own dog, Mina.

I started Wendy's class with my out-of-control puppy, who barked incessantly, pulled on the leash, was aggressive toward others, etc., not the kind of dog you could take to public places. As each week in the class progressed, I saw a steady improvement in my dog, with her learning to walk on a leash, sit, stay, come, lay down, and many other basic commands I never even dreamed my dog could ever handle.

In the end I was sad to have the class end, but at the same time, I was so happy to see the improvement in my dog, Mina, who now is an obedient and well-trained dog that I can take anywhere, thanks only to Wendy and your class. I just want you to know that I will always recommend Wendy and your class to all the pet owners I meet in the future.

 Sincerely,

Howard P. Gordon

P.S. I am attaching a picture of Mina and her trophy. In addition, before I started your class, I could have never made Mina sit, stay, and pose for a picture like this, thanks again!

To:  Dog Services Unlimited:

I just wanted to let you know what a great time I had with the class I took!

I can not say enough about the great experience I had with the class offered as well as the instructor. I put Miki (pronounced MeKi) in a puppy K. class through a store, and while he had fun, he did not learn. I put Miki in the class for basic obedience with Mairene Matthews, and I have never been happier. She has such a love for all dogs small and large, and my monster being the laziest of the class never missed giving her a kiss or saying his hello to her. You should be very proud to have such a great instructor like Mairene. I am looking forward to taking more classes with her. I have bragged about the class and Mairene to a fellow puppy owner at work, and he is considering traveling to take a class with her as well as my mother is considering putting her dog in a class since I had such a great experience.

Way to go offering such a great class and having such great instructors.

Thanks,

If you want some really good 'no-nonsense' dog obedience training for your pet, then you need to take Carol Tilton's class.  She is very loving and caring to all the dogs' but she let's both them and the owners know who is boss.  That is why I took this class. My family and I love our seven month old Aussie, Maggie the Maniac, very much.  But, we know that she needs some rules.  Maggie and I have taken two classes from Carol, and Maggie's behavior at home and out in public really shows a huge difference.  We get lots of compliments on her behavior.  I just wish Carol trained teenagers too!

Dear Dog Services Unlimited

I wanted to thank you for the quality of service you provide.  As first time puppy owners we signed up for your combo program.  It has been WONDERFUL for our entire family!  Beginning with puppy class, we have learned SO much as well as have truly enjoyed the opportunity to grow with our dog. We consider taking each class as our treat to Brophy because he gets time each week that is completely devoted to him. Hence, Brophy (now almost 2) has attended several beginner obedient and CRASH classes more for our sake than his. Lucky for us, your service offers so many classes.  While we may have taken advantage of the unlimited beginning training we have gotten to know several of your trainers.  All of which are very good at what they do however, Khara Avgevine really stands out.  In the classes that we have taken with her (2 or 3 now), Brophy (and ourselves) made the most progress.  I think it is because of the caring way she empowers her students (both human and canine) with knowledge and practical skills. Khara is able to communicate with a wide and diverse audience, yet manage to get everyone involved, retain their attention, and actually teach them.  We have attended both small and large classes.  You would think that we would get more out of the smaller class yet we didn’t and learned that it is the instructor that makes a difference.  While I’m sure there are many way to train a dog, Khara is the most effective and enjoyable instructor we have had.  When we were able to have Khara do our 90 minute in-home training, it was wonderful.  Not only is she professional, she was able to identify our weak points and trouble shoot viable solutions.  For instance, Brophy loves to run into the neighbors garage (they have dogs too). Khara showed us how to teach him a boundary and now Brophy waits excitedly in their driveway! Well, most of the time.  The in-home training was a wonderful opportunity for us to utilize Khara’s skill and passion for what she does.  It has made our life easier and maintained neighborly relations. Again, thank you for the wonderful service and trainers that you provide.  Please pass our gratitude on to Khara.

 Best wishes!       Kekei Williams  PhD

Dear Dog Services Unlimited,

My dog, Spike, and I just finished a short course on manners taught by

Debbie Allen at Mariner's park. Now Spike likes to "heel, sit, stay,
come, down, and recover" like a pro. Debbie was terrific. Spike nudges
me to take him for practice every day. He loves it. Thank you for this
course.

June, 2004

Thank you for putting on such a terrific Agility Class (University
Comm. Park - City of Irvine). The extra stimulation and exercise for
Oscar (slightly older at 6 1/2) was wonderful, healthy fun for all.
Oscar enjoyed Agility so much he enrolled again for June 2004!
Please extend our appreciation to April Ortiz for her warm and instructive attentiveness,
as well as her remarkable, unwavering enthusiasm throughout the 8 weeks. Also,
much appreciation to fellow class members. As you can see, Oscar is not
really an "agility type" dog. He is a bit older and rather, well,
"big-boned." Yet, although he had the slowest time at graduation, he
received the biggest applause! So, a big thank you to all the very
kind and fun-loving folks in our class.

To Dog Services Unlimited:

My wife and our yellow Lab Maui just finished the basic obedience course in Costa Mesa with Theresa B. Needless to say, the class was excellent and most enjoyable for the all of us. Theresa's instruction helped us transform Maui from a headstrong and undisciplined dog into a well-behaved and all-around terrific companion. We have tried other methods of training and have found that they haven't worked as well as what Theresa so succinctly imparted upon both of us. Even though my wife was the handler for the class, it was a good experience for me as well, because I learned a considerable amount about how to properly handle our dog.

The greatest thing of all is that Maui can walk like a normal, civilized dog without fulfilling the urge to tear off and try to meet other dogs and children.

We couldn't be happier with what Theresa has taught us in the past eight weeks! We're looking forward to taking the Drill course with Theresa again in the near future!! She taught us not only how to correct and deal with the behaviors we had problems with in the beginning, but also gave us the philosophy so that we can correct any problems later. The greatest thing of all was that she started the class with great authority and showed us that the "bribe" method only worked as long as you had a bribe, but by using the philosophy that she imparted on us from the very beginning, we would establish ourselves as the "alpha dogs" and therefore would be able to be in control of Maui no matter what was going on.

Thank you again for the wonderful past eight weeks!!!

Sincerely,
James & Vanessa Mikulich-Carey
(and Maui too)

April Ortiz, Agility Instructor

Dog Services Unlimited

Dear April,

Your Novice Agility Class, in the last session, was the most fun Foo Dog and I have had for years!!! Foo had been unhappy in our new home with my daughter because people didn’t come by to visit as they had at our former home. I thought an agility class might be the answer. And it certainly was! Everyone in the class was supportive of the others and the dogs all got along together. Everyone was happy!!!

The cause of all this happiness was your direction of the class. It was very non threatening to all. The skill levels of the dogs, and the owners, were quite different and yet everyone felt secure there. The directions you gave us were clear and understandable. And, even more important, when we messed up, you made it seem unimportant and acceptable.

April, I especially appreciated your remarks to me at the end of the class that perhaps I was baiting my dog too much. And after thinking about it, you were very correct!

I can’t tell you how I still look forward to Monday nights with you and the others, April. Such enjoyment and fun, and a fine sense of accomplishment. Many, many thanks to you,

Sincerely,

Pat Goodale & Foo Manatee

Dear Karol:

We just completed our first obedience class last night with our lab, Toby.  The difference today after one session is amazing!  Both my husband and I walked him separately today practicing what we learned last night and it was like we took a different dog home from the park.  Today was the first walk we took without pulling, jumping and just general craziness.  I can't wait for the next session.  Thank you so much.
Sincerely, Deirdre Hannemann

To Dog Services Unlimited,

Having just finished our 8-week dog obedience course yesterday, Sept. 6, I just had to let you know how much we enjoyed it and the instructor, Theresa B.

When I first contacted your organization in late June, I was very apprehensive about taking a class with our older Rottweiler, Lady, who had never been in a structured obedience class before.  Even after the first week, without dogs, I knew that regardless of age, skill level, or breed, Theresa would be willing and able to work with everyone.

I'm happy to report that as far as we can tell, Lady thoroughly enjoyed the class, the socialization and the instructor.  She even took first place.  Granted, it was mostly due to her "ability" to sit and not move for 2 minutes, but we're proud of her anyway!

Thanks again for the patience and instruction.  We'll recommend your classes to all of our dog-loving friends.

TO: Ms. Wendy Brookhyser, c/o Dog Services Unlimited

Dear Wendy,

We neglected to thank you at the conclusion of last Saturday's obedience Crash Course, which, as it turns out, was a vital part of our Mallory's education in learning fundamental rules of behavior, attentiveness, and respect for commands and directives.  We discovered very quickly that Mallory learns fast and easily, that she rather enjoyed her homework assignments, and that she was receptive to both praise and correction.  We also discovered that she seemed to be continually unable to resist the presence of another dog, which signaled (to her, at any rate) an opportunity to run, chase, play, and pester.  Under your guidance, we have come a long way, so that she now sits and stays properly until she is given clear verbal permission to engage her various pup pals.  After the first session, when we were convinced that we might have the class dunce living with us, we worked every day with her (sometimes for a total of two hours) and we incorporated your recommendations and techniques.  We hope that you agree with us that by the time of the fourth class Mallory had improved tremendously.  We appreciate your efforts and the care with which you teach canines and their folks.

Thank you again.

"Ranger", an energetic Labradoodle, spent a few weeks at Paul and Patty Thurner's home for their Board-Training program!

7/11/03

Hi Patty and Paul,

I just wanted to give you a quick update on Ranger.  He is doing great and seems to be adjusting well to be back at home.  I took him to his first dog obedience class last week at Ladera Ranch and he was so excited to see all of the other dogs that we had to put the "pinch" collar on him.  Once he calmed down he was a star pupil and seemed to be at speed or ahead of the class.  He has gone with us to many new locations that I never would have attempted to take him to prior to his training with you.   I took him on a walk last night and for the first time ever he didn't pull my arm out of the socket!  I practiced having him sit at every corner and sit with a lot of distractions and he did so well.  He is back to sleeping in the house at night and back to being in the house pretty much when we are all at home. He has tried to do some of his old tricks -like picking up the kids toys or their socks or running off with one of my dish towels-but once he sees the spray bottle he drops it or totally avoids picking it up at all.  SUCH A BIG IMPROVEMENT!!!  He just seems a lot more in control of himself.  Thank you for doing such a great job with him.

I did want to ask you what you thought about him possibly going to a "Doggie Day Care" once a week for socialization.  I think the reason that he was so excited at the class last week was because he really missed being around all of his dog buddies at your house.  We plan on getting another dog but not until next year so until then I was thinking that this might be a good option for him.  Our friends who have another labradoodle send theirs to one twice a week and they really like it.

Dear Paul and Patty,

I wanted to thank you for the advice and training you gave us. We were concerned about our dog Tahoe and you eased our minds that with the proper training she could fit into our family.  Tahoe has transformed into a wonderful dog and without you I don't know if that would have ever happened. I have since recommended you to every dog owner I know that is seeking training.

Dear Paul,

I just wanted to tell you that the day you came over for the 1-1/2 hour lesson on how to handle my dog Oscar's jumping and barking, was the day Oscar became a 'new dog'!  Whenever anyone comes over, they are AMAZED at how he no longer jumps!  It remains the topic of discussion for some time. Also, his barking has substancially been reduced -- the party noisemaker did the trick.

Tonight is the 2nd group obedience lesson, and we're looking forward to it. Thank you so much for your work!!

  Thanks again,

11/9/01

Hello,

In February 2001, I brought Chase home to live with me.  He had just turned 3 yrs old.  He is a beautiful red Bullmastiff and about as stubborn as can be.  The first week I had him, he "blew" my elbows out when I walked him.  I signed up for the 8 week obedience class, with Mairene Matthews as the instructor.  I had had Chase approx. 3 weeks when class started.  Even though he had never heard the word "sit" before, being a show dog, by week 5 I was getting automatic sits out of him.  We ended up getting a 191 in our final, and taking 1st place trophy!!  Since then we have attended 2 Polish and Drill classes, with remarkable results!!  Mairene has actually bounced a "squeaky" off his nose during a sit stay, and he never budged!!  We have also rolled a ball between his front legs during a down stay, and he barely even looked at it!!  He weighs, 146 pounds, and is like I said earlier, VERY Bull Headed!!

I have since searched high and low for other obedience clubs to join.  (I will not mention names)  I have checked out every resource in my area, and watched their training style.  Every club I watched, the dogs worked ONLY because there was food/bait in front of their noses!  I decided I didn't want to train that way, and put my faith into the praise method.  I believe I have gotten the results I wanted.  This past Monday night, 11/5/01, my neighbors Husky jumped the fence and ended up in my yard.  I went to go outside with my Bullmastiff, and our little mutt.  They saw the Husky same time I did, and tore into it immediately!!  I screamed for help, and then proceeded to command Chase to me.  EVERY time I commanded, he paused and took a few steps to me.  But, unfortunately, our mutt was in a frenzy, and he'd go back to help her.  After the 3rd, "Chase Come!", he walked to me and I was able to grab his collar.  My husband grabbed our mutt and we were able to separate the dogs.  None of the 3, that's right, 3 dogs, were hurt!!  All this because of Praise Training, not Bait Training.  Everything I learned in class with Chase, I applied at home with Kenia, our mutt.  Now tell me, would a dog leave a fight that was NOT pretty for food?  No, but for love, praise and attention, YES!!!  I have nothing but respect and gratitude for everything Mairene and Dog Services Unlimited has taught me.  You have a customer as long as I have dogs, which, basically, is forever!!  I recommend you to everyone!  I am bringing home my female pup in 11 days, and I am looking forward to puppy classes and everything else with her as well.

Sincerely,

Re: Carol Tilton, Instructor

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is in reference to the excellent quality of service that
instructor Carol Tilton of Dog Services Unlimited gives to responsible
dog owners. My German Shepard was only 6 months old at the time of our
first training course with Carol. This class taught me more than I ever
imagined. Carols' stellar training techniques were amazing to witness
and be a part of. She was always eager to answer any questions that I or
anyone else in the class had during or after class on a one-on-one
level. I was so impressed with the way she taught me to handle my dog
that I referred eight different dog owners (that I thought could use the
work) to her training course. All agreed to her outstanding ability.
After my dog graduated from her first obedience course I enrolled her in
the agility class at Mission Viejo High School were I had the chance to
watch Carol teach her advanced class (that was held in the same area)
which really is a sign of how well her training techniques work. I am
looking forward to taking more intermediate classes with her and
hopefully will have my dog in one of her advanced courses someday down
the line. I want to thank her and your organization for utilizing such
talent. There are a lot of dog training services in business who charge
a ridicules amount of money to train your dog for you and not teach YOU
humane ways to control your dog. I will highly recommend your service to
anyone.

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently attended your dog training course that was offered  through the City of Glendora.  I just wanted to let you know how much "our family" (my husband, me, and our two dogs, Hazel and Dakota) enjoyed the class.  Ms. Rose Healey taught the class and she did an excellent job.  She is extremely knowledgeable in training and dog obedience.

We decided to sign up for the class because those who know us, know our dogs by their nickname: "the Holy Terrors".  On the first day of class, we arrived late because Dakota got off her leash and ran to terrorize the neighbors.  When we finally arrived at the class, everyone was in a nice straight row, heeled at their owners' sides, listening to Rose.  Then, up came our "Holy Terrors" and created such a ruckus!  We finally got our dogs settled down and we started to do some footwork.  Dakota somehow got loose from my husband and ran around and got everyone riled up again. I thought to myself, this is going to be a LONG couple of weeks!  But Rose helped us train our dogs and gave us many tips.  What an improvement in just a few weeks!  She taught us how and why a dog behaves the way it does and how to handle them.  We applied these tactics to our mongrels and to my surprise they ended up getting the first and second place trophies out of the whole class! (Maybe Rose felt sorry for us. HA-HA)

Our dogs get so excited going to class on Saturdays.  It's like they know it's Saturday and they wake up at 6 in the morning, ready to go to school!  When it's any other day, they won't get out of bed until 10:00.  My husband and I really loved the class, and we're quite sad that it's over.  I know I speak for my whole family in saying "thank you" to Rose and your company for the class.

Sincerely Yours,

Cynthia McCune

Re: Dog Obedience Class held at Maxwell Park on Thursdays 6-7 pm

To Whom It May Concern

I would like you to know what a help your training instructor, Shelley Schmidt, has been in training our dogs in the Thursday night classes.  We have two Akitas and she has helped tremendously with both.

The youngest, Nikko, (2 years old, 140 pounds) dog's manners have improved considerably. He has always been friendly but not always in good control.  Shelley was able to offer suggestions that were pertinent to each individual dog in the class and worked with us until we found the right mix to teach Nikko to respond properly.

The older dog, Sheba, (9 years old, 97 pounds) was a little dog aggressive and stubborn when we first began classes; she has improved so much that she has now passed the P.A.W.S. test through the Orange County SPCA and has become a volunteer at Orangewood Children's Home and Fountain Valley Regional Hospital as a part of their pet therapy program.

I am thankful to your program and to Shelley for making this possible.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thurner,

Recently, I took a dog obedience class through City of Costa Mesa.  I am writing you in regards to our instructor, Ginger Simon.  She is an excellent instructor.  She was so personable, patient, kind, and so helpful with the dogs and dog owners.  She is so very knowledgeable and really taught us so much.  She always encouraged us to ask questions and made sure that we understood what she was asking us to teach our dogs.  We were so impressed with Ginger, and with all that our dog learned, that our son will also be taking the class in January.  We have an American Eskimo, and he really changed and learned so much.  I continue to work with him, with everything Ginger taught us.  I highly recommend your class and your instructor ginger to our friends.  Ginger is a real asset to your business.

Thank you for your time.  I feel that when someone is really excellent in what they do, they should be complemented.  It is so obvious Ginger loves her job.  She was so wonderful and we appreciate her and her patience so much!  Thank You!

Sincerely,

Peggy Roberts
